WHAT in the World?!

A little experience from last week...

So there I was, riding in the car with Mom, driving through a small town in Kansas...Iola to be exact. We were heading back to Kansas City. All of a sudden I laughed and said, "Well isn't that a coincidence!" Mom asked,"What?" I responded,"There is a DEAD END sign by the road that runs through the cemetery!!!" We both started laughing, it was so funny. A thing like that is too good to pass up, so we turned around to go snap a photo. So here it is...the epically placed sign in the little cemetery of Iola, Kansas.

Me? No, I Didn't Disappear...Here I Am!

Well hello all!!

I have not blogged in a REALLY LONG time. A lot has happened since my last post. Let's start from where I left off and I will take you on a brief tour of the past months of my life.

I started school at OTC this past fall. My first semester was great! I took English Comp. I, biology, and American history. My favorite class was English. I LOVED my teacher, she was amazing. I learned a lot in all of the classes and finished with an A in every class! 4.0! About a week or two before classes were over, my English teacher, Michelle, came up to me and said that the tutoring center would be losing a couple of writing tutors for the spring semester and she looked at all of her students and wanted to recommend me!!!! She wanted ME to be a tutor!! I was stoked!! I took her up on the offer and started on January 30th! :)

The holidays were obviously great as usual. I love being with family and I LOOOOVE Christmas! :)

I worked on my application for BYU and BYU-Idaho. I submitted them in January...I cannot remember the exact day. I figured I wouldn't find out for a month to two months. I got an email that said the decision had been made for BYU-I around mid-late February. I checked my email, super nervous and excited. I read the electronic-letter and...I was ACCEPTED!!! GAH! I was so extremely thrilled!! I literally could not have been happier. I was so excited and humbled, I cried. I was overcome with the blessing of being accepted to that wonderful school. About a week or two later I got an email saying that my decision for BYU had been made. As I read it, I found out that I was NOT accepted. Thing is, I wasn't upset ONE bit. I knew right then and there that this came from the Lord. This was His way of telling me that this was the right decision. I was concerned that if I was accepted to both, that I would have a really really really tough decision to make. Fortunately, Heavenly Father made it "easy" for me. :) I am beyond psyched to go to Idaho! I waited for my track assignment (BYU-I has a three-semester system and you're assigned two.) and received an email a couple of weeks after receiving my acceptance. As I read it, I was disappointed to find out that I had been given the winter/spring semesters. I really wanted the fall/winter semesters. I am a bit embarrassed to say that I was mad and upset, but I am only human. I mulled it over for about an hour, crying and pondering why I had been given this. I know it may sound really ridiculous to do so, but because I was given the winter/spring semesters, I will miss all of my little sister's dance competitions, her graduation (which I will just have to FLY back for..heehee), Fourth of July with my family (we love that holiday) and my mom, dad, and sister's birthdays...as well as mine (being with family). So I was just overwhelmed during the beginning of finding that out. The first hour seemed like years. Once I thought of the positive things, I realized that this is what was best for ME. I became thankful, humbled, and had a feeling of peace come over me. I love the ways in which the Lord works. :)

My second semester at OTC was wonderful. I took technical writing and a music appreciation class. I only took two because I had a new job as a tutor and wasn't sure how vigorous that would be. I learned a lot and had a blast! I finished with A's!!! I kept up my 4.0 throughout my WHOLE freshman year! I cannot believe I am done being a freshman!

Another big thing that happened this spring was the dedication of the Kansas City Missouri LDS Temple!!! We prepared a cultural celebration about a month beforehand. We practiced a lot of numbers, both singing, dancing, and signing (ASL). It took a lot of work from many people. During the Saturday rehearsal (the morning and afternoon of the celebration), multiple things went wrong which prohibited us from fully practicing and practicing where we would ACTUALLY be that night. All 3,000 LDS youth knelt in prayer that afternoon and called upon the Lord to help those working on the things that were faulty and not working. In all of His magnificence, He blessed those workers and they fixed what needed repairs within the next hour. Even though we didn't get to practice as planned, it all turned out in the most amazing way that night. I cannot describe what happened, you just had to be there to feel the energy and spirit. It was one of THE best experiences of my LIFE. I will forever remember that day. The next day was the dedication of the Kansas City Temple. We watched it being broadcast from our church building on Sunday. It was absolutely amazing. Another thing that I will not forget. A weekend to remember...

Let's hop on over to June. I turned 19!!! Crazy, I know. It's crazy to think! It's my last year as a teenager! GAH! I'm super excited and ready for anything new and adventurous. :) Ooooo, and I got a pair of fabulous Dr. Dre Beats! Whaaaaat?!?! :)

This past week we had Young Womens camp. It was great! My mom, Melinda Love, and I were the cooks. HOLY COW. What a big job! Feeding almost 200 girls and leaders breakfast, lunch, snack, and dinner for 4 days is pretty intense! Thankfully we had some help from the other leaders when they were free. They helped us prep and do anything "we" needed. I am super grateful for them. Not only for their help, but for the friendships I gained through spending time with them. I had a blast chilling out and hanging with them during the wee hours of the morning, laughing and sharing stories. I also loved being with my Nixa YW. They are THE BEST IN THE WORLD. I could not ASK for better girls that I call my little sisters. One of the highlights of camp was our ward testimony meeting. It was so amazing, the testimonies were fantastically beautiful, and we went through insane amounts of tissues and tears!!! I think we became dehydrated! :P I am so grateful for Girls Camp and all of the wonderful memories made there. It is always one of the things I look forward to the most in the summer!

Well, that basically catches you up on all of the BIG events in the past 9-ish months! I will TRY to be better about blogging...seriously! :) Please feel free to comment or do whatever your little hearts desire! :)

Quite hot....but awesome. I was surrounded by wonderful friends and youth...all together for the same wholesome reason. After that I had Girls Camp,in which I was a leader....and man was THAT AMAZING! Such a wonderful experience! I wouldn't trade it for the world! In between all of that I've had normal day-to-day things and also getting enrolled into COLLEGE!!! I cannot wait. It'll definitely be different, but a FANTASTIC different! Well, that's all for now! Getting closer...to CHRISTMAS!!!

Well it's only about 3 days till Christmas!!! I absolutely LOOOOVE this time of year. First off,it is the time of year where we celebrate the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ. But I love that people are so giving, kind, charitable,& loving. The decorations are beautiful, the snow (when we get it) is wonderful, and having friends and family near is one of THE BEST parts. I love traditions that my family has..one of my favorites is when my mom, sister and I make HOMEMADE CHOCOLATES a couple weeks before and we send out boxes to friends and family. Not only is it fun...& nit to mention DELISH..but I love giving them to people because they always love them and are grateful. :)

I just wanted to write this little post and wish everyone a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS and enjoy spending time with friends and family,& remember the REAL reason for this time of year!!! Oh,and a HAPPY NEW YEAR! ;DDD
